Over 60s hit back at free prescription age change proposal

“These changes only push more and more older people into poverty and subsequent ill health.

Age UK asserts if the Government were to shift the eligibility age to align with state pension age, without protecting those aged 60 to 65, 2.4million people may have to start paying.
The matter is yet to be decided, and people are keeping an eye out for what the Government announces.
Previously, a Department for Health and Social Care spokesperson told Express.co.uk: “Around 90 percent of community prescription items in England are free of charge, and people don’t pay if they are on a low income, over 60, or have certain medical conditions.
