‘We spruced up our Friday in the office with a pancake pop-up and you can too’

Well, you may not have realised that you can have fresh crepes delivered to your workspace so that you can enjoy the sweet treats on your lunch break from the comfort of your desk.

We put a pop-up pancake stand to the test and invited Le Montmartre down to our central London office to see if it was worth the hype.

Two pancake makers arrived at our doors with bags filled with delicious ingredients and most importantly, freshly made crepes.

Carla Sibillin and Lou Lavigne from Le Montmartre explained that the crepes were made that morning as some offices do not allow too much smoke indoors if they were to be cooked there and then.

Instead, the crepes are added to the crepe machines to be warmed through as you choose whichever toppings you like.

Le Montmartre really did cater to everyone’s tastes with a wide range of toppings to choose from.

We were lucky enough to be able to decide between a sweet or savoury crepe – most of us opted for one of each.

For savoury crepes, we could choose to add cheese, tomatoes, mushrooms and/or ham.

For sweet crepes, we could opt for Nutella, banana, strawberries, sugar, lemon, raspberry jam and even whipped cream.

The pancake pop-up proved to be a hit with our office with everyone heading back for seconds.

I personally started with a savoury crepe filled with cheese, tomatoes and ham and must admit it was a delicious addition to my day.

It was so tasty that I had to follow it with a sweet crepe.

I went for Nutella and strawberries for my second crepe, a popular choice with many of us in our office, and I savoured every bite of it.

I can definitely say that bringing a pancake pop-up to the office makes your work day even more worthwhile and it was great to see all of my colleagues beaming as we devoured our lunch together.

When we were all too full to go on, Carla and Lou even left us with the leftover pancakes and toppings so that we could help ourselves to some more later if we wanted to.

Both Carla and Lou are originally from France and told us that they grew up eating savoury crepes for dinner and so were surprised to see that they weren’t as popular as their sweet counterparts here in London.

They told us that their most popular crepe is either Nutella with banana or lemon and sugar – two classic combinations.

Carla said that the company started doing pop-ups for pancake day four years ago and they proved so popular that Le Montmartre began to run them all year round.

They brought 50 pancakes for our office to munch but told us that for this Tuesday, one company ordered a whopping 400 crepes to be brought for their office.

The company also caters barbecues, cheese fondues, smoothies and juices, soup bars, chocolate fountains, canteen buffets and more.
