As summer edges ever closer, live music is picking back up in Geraldton. There are some huge names heading our way this month, and the locals will be tearing it up.
Sunday 10: Carly Markham — Geraldton Irish Club
Often found alongside the dynamic Ian Weggler, Carly Markham will lull you into a sweet Sunday session.
Friday 15: Drapht — Wintersun Hotel
Arguably Perth’s biggest name in the hip-hop scene, Drapht is celebrating the release of his 7th album, Shadows and Shinings, with a WA tour. The album is a mixture of solo works and colabs with some massive names, including Hilltop Hoods’ Pressure.
Drapht will be bringing some fellow Perth heavyweights in Complete and Bitter Belief, as well as Greesy, one of the most exciting young acts in the scene.
With multi-platinum singles and two ARIA awards under his belt, Drapht is sure to blow the roof off the place.
Harvest Guide — Abrolhos Adventures’ Catamaran
Yes, it’s on a boat.Harvest Guide will be keeping you company as you sail across to the Abrolhos Islands, sipping on Illegal Tender rum and enjoying a nice tapas spread. If you’re looking for something a bit more laid back instead of a pumping rap show, this’ll be the spot for you.
Sunday 17: Battle of the Bands — Queens Park Theatre
So you want to see some live music, but you can’t decide what you want to hear … Battle of the Bands will have it all. Featuring some established local bands, and some you’ll discover for the first time. There’s a recording deal worth $10,000 up for grabs, so the competition will be fierce.
Friday 22 and Saturday 23: Endless Thread — Geraldton Hotel
Playing two nights in a row, the Perth-based three-piece are bringing all the pub classics to the Geraldton Hotel.
Whether it’s AC/DC, Foo Fighters, or even a bit of Tina Turner, you’ll find something to jam to.
Saturday 30: The Chats — Wintersun Hotel
This one might be a bit shaky with the COVID situation over east, but all going well, this will be one of the biggest gigs of the year. If you don’t know The Chats by now, think of some of Australia’s classic pub rock bands, with a healthy dose of overdrive and a thrashy punk attitude. The Queenslanders will be capping off the WA leg of the Suburban Excursion tour here with Melbourne 3-piece Batpiss in tow.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, just a taste of what’s to come. Make sure to keep an eye on your favourite bands’ and venues’ social media to stay up-to-date on Geraldton’s growing local music scene.
