Police warning over ‘armed’ hitchhiker in the South West

Locals in the South West have been warned to avoid a man hitchhiking and possibly armed with a knife.

WA Police put out the alert on Monday after an incident in Margaret River where a man brandished a knife.

No other details of the incident or a description of the suspect are available at this time.

However, residents have been warned that a man was hitchhiking to Nannup along Mowen and Rosabrook roads.

“While it can’t be confirmed it is the same person, as a precaution police advise members of the public not to provide a lift to any hitchhikers in the area,” a police spokesperson said.

“Anyone seen acting suspiciously is asked to contact police immediately on 131 444.”
