‘Gaun yersel’: Nicola Sturgeon hailed for no-nonsense response to right-wing ambush
NICOLA Sturgeon has won widespread praise for her response to far-right thugs who confronted her at a polling station.
The First Minister was unequivocal after being abused by extremist Jayda Fransen, who is running for election in her constituency.
The SNP leader told her: “You are a fascist. You are a racist. And the southside of Glasgow will reject you.”
The no-nonsense response has earned the FM plaudits from scores of social media users.
Guardian columnist and Labour activist Owen jones tweeted: “Massive kudos to @NicolaSturgeon for facing down these far right thugs.”

The First Minister’s reaction was also hailed by figures in the media.
Journalist Rossalyn Warren wrote: “I enjoyed watching Nicola Sturgeon calmly tell a far-right activist who confronts her ‘you’re a racist and a fascist and Glasgow will reject you’ and then walk off.”
CNN anchor Hala Gorani also shared the message.

Sturgeon won further praise from members of the public.
“Gaun yersel Nicola get them telt,” one person wrote.
Another commented: “Just a very, very good leader – Johnson would be in a fridge hiding.”
Valentina Servera Clavell, who lives in Scotland but is originally from Catalonia, wrote: “I’m a proud immigrant living in the Glasgow southside thank you @NicolaSturgeon for standing up to fascism.”
