This season on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Jennifer Aydin was hit with a nuke. Margaret Josephs, the Queen of Jersey Secrets, decided to expose her husband Bill’s affair. This effectively blew up her world.
At the start of season 12, seemingly no one came to Jennifer’s side – including her friend Dolores Catania. In multiple interviews, Jennifer expressed disappointment in her ally (much to Dolores’ chagrin).
Now, as the season comes to a close, Dolores is doing an interview of her own.
Speaking with Page Six, the star declared she’s “done” with Jennifer for good.
“The way she spoke about me was unwarranted,” said Dolores. “I did reach out to her off-camera and I did try to speak to her as a friend and she said, ‘I’ll see you at the reunion.’”
“That was a very pivotal moment for me,” she revealed, “to see that the person who I have stuck up for so much and feel that I’ve been there for spoke to me like, ‘I’ll see you at the reunion.’”
Then Dolores addressed Jennifer directly.
“I’ve been a friend to you on the show since you’ve been on … I’ve left events with you. I’ve had your back when you were un-defendable, whether you were in front of me or not,” explained the 51-year-old. “And this is the way I get treated.”
In one episode, as Jennifer wept at the exposure of Bill’s affair, Dolores told her to stop crying. Many viewers felt the remark was overly callous.
In her interview with Page Six, however, Dolores claimed there was more to the story – and she believes Jennifer should have shared it.
“[Jennifer] should have stepped up and said, ‘Listen, I asked her to be tough with me and I asked her to actually stop me from crying.’ I’m like, ‘Stop crying. Walk in this house with your head up and your shoulders back,’” said the entrepreneur.
“That’s what I told her, ‘Because you have a good marriage. This is something you got through and be proud of it.’ But it wasn’t the way she wanted to take it this season … So, I didn’t realize that. Sorry.”
The half-apology was followed by an important declaration: “I’m done [with her] because [of] the way she treated me.”
“I feel like it’s probably better for both me and Jen,” said Dolores. “The way I left that reunion is the way it will stay. This is the way it is. This is fine. I don’t have to be everyone’s friend. I’m not used to being treated like this by women — sorry — or anyone because I don’t deserve it.”
Many fans are wondering: is this truly the end of Jennifer and Dolores?
Historically speaking, dozens of ‘Housewives’ have tossed friendships out the window (only to pick them up again in the next season). Perhaps the two castmates can find their way back to each other – if the stench of season 12 fades away.
Otherwise, another Bravo duo is officially broken.
