Prey star Amber Midthunder has weighed in on the possibility of a sequel to the Predator prequel.
Last month Prey was made available on Hulu and performed very well for the streaming service. The film had the biggest original premiere in the history of the streaming service and was well reviewed by critics. This has led some to wonder whether or not the Predator film will get a sequel.
SPOILERS FOR PREY TO FOLLOW
At the end of Prey, Amber Midthunder’s Naru is ultimately victorious against the Predator but the victory may have been short-lived. The gun that she has at the end of the film is revealed to be the same one that was given to Danny Glover’s Mike Harrigan by a Predator chief at the end of the 1990 film, Predator 2. This and an after-credits clip indicated that things probably did not go very well for Naru and the others after the credits rolled. Now the actress herself has weighed on the possibility of a sequel.
Will There Be A Second Hunt?
While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Amber Mindthunder weighed in on the possibility of a Prey sequel. While she couldn’t confirm whether or not a sequel would be made but trusted the people behind it to make the right decision:
“I don’t know what the plans are for the future, but I trust whatever decision is made. Dan [Trachtenberg] spent so long developing this with 20th Century. Obviously, all that time was used to make a really great thing. I’m sure that nobody would make something again, if it wasn’t amazing. So I think whatever happens, I think it will be the right choice.”
Here is the synopsis for the latest film in the Predator franchise, Prey:
Set in the Comanche Nation 300 years ago, “Prey” is the story of a young woman, Naru, a fierce and highly skilled warrior. She has been raised in the shadow of some of the most legendary hunters who roam the Great Plains, so when danger threatens her camp, she sets out to protect her people. The prey she stalks, and ultimately confronts, turns out to be a highly evolved alien predator with a technically advanced arsenal, resulting in a vicious and terrifying showdown between the two adversaries.
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg from a script written by Patrick Aison, Prey stars Amber Midthunder, Dakota Beavers, Stormee Kipp, Michelle Thrush, and Julian Black Antelope.
