Former child star Jennette McCurdy claims mum made her shower with brother at 11

Former Nickelodeon star Jennette McCurdy has made more sensational claims about her allegedly abusive mother.

Sharing more details on the Facebook series Red Table Talk, the iCarly actress claimed her late mother, Debra, would force her to shower with her older brother when she was 11 years old – a detail she also shares in her memoir I’m Glad My Mom Died.

“Mom showers me with Scotty sometimes,” McCurdy said aloud as she read host Jada Pinkett Smith an excerpt from the book. “He’s almost 16 at this point. I get really embarrassed when she showers us together. I can tell he does too.”

McCurdy, now 30, said she and Scotty would both “look away from each other” and find ways to distract themselves while in the uncomfortable situation.

“When she showers us together, Mom says it’s because she’s got too much to do,” the actress continued to read. “Scotty asked if he could shower himself own once. Mom sobbed and said she didn’t want him to grow up so he never asked again after that.”

The former child star said she felt just as uncomfortable when showering alone as her mum would allegedly give her a “breast” and “front butt exam” to check for cancer. Debra would later die from breast cancer in 2013 after a 15-year battle.

“I say OK, because I definitely don’t want cancer, and since Mom’s had it and all, she would know if I do,” she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, McCurdy read out an email allegedly sent by her mum in which she called the child star a “slut”, “evil” and “conniving”.

“I am so disappointed in you. You used to be my perfect little angel but now you are nothing more than a little SLUT,” she read, emphasising that ‘slut’ was written in capital letters. “[You’re nothing more than] a floozy, all used up.”

McCurdy also claimed Debra would often make fun of her weight, which was particularly triggering as the star has revealed she suffered from an eating disorder and restrictive eating while growing up.

In her memoir, the actress said her eating disorder was fuelled by her mother, who made her diet and over-exercise as a young girl and teenager.
