Alison Brie Reflects On Those ‘She-Hulk’ MCU Casting Rumors

Alison Brie reflected on those casting rumors that she would be playing the titular role in She-Hulk for the MCU.
The newest entry in the MCU, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law just premiered on Disney Plus last week, and viewers have had the chance to introduce themselves to Tatiana Maslany as Jennifer Walters. With the actress, perhaps most known for her role in Orphan Black as the titular heroine, some may forget that when the role was still being cast, there were reports that Marvel Studios was looking for an “Alison Brie type.”
Alison Brie, who is known for her numerous television credits that include Community, Mad Men, GLOW, and BoJack Horseman among others was heavily-rumored to be cast as the MCU‘s She-Hulk. However, it appears that those were unfounded based on her comments to Yahoo! Entertainment correspondent Kevin Polowy:
“I have no idea. I don’t know if we’ll ever know if it was legit… it was odd; it was definitely odd. There was like a man… like, in that time period I went to pick up a sandwich at a sandwich shop and there was a man who was like, ‘In just read that you got cast as She-Hulk.’ I was like, ‘well, you’re the first one who has told me about it. Maybe I should check with my agents. There’s a lot of misinformation going on when it came to She-Hulk. But, you know, Tatiana Maslany is such a talent actress; I’m really looking forward to seeing what she does with it… she’s incredible, I love Orphan Black, I watched every episode of that. I think she’s so talented, and the trailers look so fun. I’m excited to watch.”
Even though the MCU went for Tatiana Maslany to play She-Hulk instead of Alison Brie, it’s clear that Brie is a fan of Maslany’s work in Orphan Black, and is looking forward to see her portrayal as Jennifer Walters. Who knows, maybe Brie will end up playing a different character sometime down the line and share the screen with her.
