Kingsville hosting flock of events for Migration Festival

Kingsville’s 52nd annual Migration Festival, with a 6 p.m. Thursday opening ceremony, barbecue and live music at Mettawas Park, continues through the weekend with a full slate of programs and events.

On Friday, the artists of the Great Migration Paint Out begin on their canvasses, and a sacred fire ceremony hosted by the Caldwell First Nation will be held at 6 p.m. at the Carnegie Arts and Visitor Centre, 28 Division St. S.

Saturday has the Migration Marketplace at Lakeside Park, as well as guided walks and bike rides through the town featuring speakers highlighting downtown history. There are tours of Kennedy Woods and the Jack Miner Migratory Bird Sanctuary (as well as dog demos, fish pond and mazes), and the Kingsville Military Museum kicks off its grand reopening at 11 a.m.

Food, children’s activities, games and entertainment, including acrobats and live bird of prey demonstrations, start at noon at Lions Park and the Carnegie Centre.

Sunday will see many of those activities and attractions continue, as well as a car show and bicycle “slow roll” at Jack Miner’s.

Bike Windsor Essex hosts cycle rides at 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
