Hamilton police make drug, guns bust during routine stop

Hamilton Police have seized drugs and guns during a routine stop.

On Thursday, at 11:05 a.m., police pulled over a vehicle in the area of Wentworth St., N. and Barton St., E. to find the licence plates were not registered to the vehicle, and the unlicensed male driver was in a stolen vehicle.

A search of the vehicle uncovered two loaded restricted handguns and one loaded restricted handgun which was altered and capable of being used as a automatic prohibited firearm.

Police also seized one prohibited over-capacity magazine, a quantity of cocaine and magic mushrooms.

Police charged the male driver with three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, three counts of possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized, three counts of possession of a prohibited loaded firearm, three counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle, three counts of careless transport o a firearm, and two counts of possession of a prohibited device.
