Blue Jays Lourdes Gurriel Jr. recovering from surgery to repair left wrist
While it was an injured hamstring that kept the Blue Jays Lourdes Gurriel Jr. sidelined at the end of the 2022 season and the team’s brief playoff appearance, the outfielder had surgery for another ailment on Thursday.
On his instagram account, Gurriel described the surgery as “repairs to the machine” while accompanied with a smiling picture from a hospital bed.
According to the team, Gurriel underwent successful surgery in Ohio to treat symptoms related to a sore left wrist that had bothered him throughout the season.
The nagging wrist issue was re-evaluated following the season and it was decided by Gurriel and the team to have it addressed via surgery.
Gurriel is expected to be fully recovered in time for spring training in February.
The outfielder missed the final 25 games (and the two playoff contests) with a hamstring strain.
